Dollhouse Food = Paperweights !?!

Mon Apr 20, 2009, 1:22 PM
Okies, this is how it is... :typerhappy: Presently on dA dollhouse miniatures are being lumped into the ornaments and paperweights sub-category of artisan crafts! I know for sure that my work is no way on earth heavy enough to be a paperweight and...well... a lot of it is way to small to be a regular ornament. I'm talking true 1:12 (and other) scale replicas of real items meticulously hand sculpted, carved and lovingly tweeked to resemble as close to the original full size piece as humanly possible. Soooo why on earth should they be classed as paperweights or ornaments!?! One possible answer... dA is oblivious to such works of perfection by miniature artisans (that's artisans that work in miniature scales - NOT artisans that are a bit on the teeny side!).

We need a revolution :plotting: (and nifty bit of education for the powers that be!) :D

The lovely fairchildart has started a thread in the suggestions forum, you can find it here... [link] ...so far a few of us deviants think that it is a jolly good idea to introduce some new sub-categories to artisan crafts that would serve dA better with the classification of scale dolls and miniatures. They aren't toys and aren't to be sniffed at, for lots of collectors out there the acquisition of true scale miniatures is serious business. There are hundreds of specialist fairs around the world where we showcase our scale miniatue works, numerous guilds and forums where we discuss relevant matters and bang heads together, even (dare I say it...) eBay has a huge dollhouse miniature following and the miniature artisans of Etsy managed to get the category recognised...so why can't we deviants!?!

If you...
 love  dollhouse miniatures and dolls ...or...
want to see better sub-categories for dolls and miniatures ...or...
just want to help pester the powers that be... then...

PLEASE hop over to fairchildart's forum thread and leave a comment [link]
